That is strong for websites meant to stay online. For the report five people should read and comment on their phones it wasn't designed – that is where Annopane belongs.
When ChatGPT Canvas & Sites is the better choice
- You want to publish a real website, on your own domain, that Codex keeps building.
- The result may be public and needs no comments from readers.
When Annopane is the better choice
- Recipients should be able to comment – without a ChatGPT account, right at the spot.
- The content is confidential: password, expiry, not indexed by Google.
- It's about a file (report, calculator, prototype), not a website – and it should work offline as an app on the phone.
- You mix sources: ChatGPT HTML, Claude artifacts, PDFs and Excel in one folder.

Website or document? That is the real question
ChatGPT Sites is a website tool. If your goal is a page on the web that Codex maintains, it's made for that. Annopane is a document tool: a file should reach specific people, feel good on the phone and collect feedback. Both do HTML, both share – the intent is different.
Feedback: the decisive difference
In ChatGPT, annotations go to Codex, not to you – and outsiders can't leave any. In Annopane the reader taps the number that bothers them, writes two sentences, and you see the pin exactly there. All comments can be copied as an instruction and pasted into ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor; Claude can fetch them directly via the connector.
Our verdict
For a public website on your own domain that Codex keeps building: ChatGPT Sites. For a report, calculator or prototype that goes privately to people who should comment – and on the phone like an app –: Annopane. Both together is no contradiction: many simply upload the ChatGPT HTML to Annopane.

Via the Annopane connector (MCP), AI tools can publish directly and fetch comments. The officially tested path is Claude; ChatGPT apps with MCP support work with the same protocol.
