Opening files
My HTML file shows up blank or broken.
Usually the file loads images, fonts or scripts from the internet and Annopane blocks network access by default. Tap ⋯ top right → Settings → “Allow network”. If the file needs several files (CSS, images in subfolders), upload it as a ZIP – Annopane detects the start file automatically.

HTML (also as ZIP with subfolders, MHTML, web archives), Claude artifacts and exports from ChatGPT or Lovable, PDF, Excel/CSV, Word, PowerPoint, Markdown, images (incl. HEIC), code and Jupyter notebooks, Mermaid diagrams, audio and video. Office files are shown in simplified form; code is displayed, not executed.

Guest links without an account: 10 MB. With an account: 100 MB per file. During the beta there are no other limits – neither on the number of files nor on folders or versions.
How do I get a Claude artifact into Annopane?
In Claude, tap “Download” (or “Copy as HTML”) on the artifact, then upload the file to Annopane – on iPhone also via Share → Annopane. Even faster with the Claude connector (Settings → Connector): Claude places the file directly in your library and fetches the comments later.

Rendering happens entirely on your device – on first open Annopane fetches the matching viewer module (PDF about 0.5 MB) once. After that it is cached, also offline.
Sharing
The link I received has expired.
Guest links are valid for 7 days, other links as long as the creator set. Ask the sender for a new link – the file itself is not gone on their side. As creator you find links and expiry dates in the share dialog.
Do recipients need an account?
No. The link opens in the browser; a name is enough to comment. Anyone who wants the page as an app on the home screen: share icon in Safari → “Add to Home Screen”.
How do I protect a file with a password?
Share → More options → set password and create link. The password is stored as a hash; recipients enter it once per device. We cannot recover forgotten passwords – simply create a new link.
How do I revoke a link?
Share dialog → list of links → trash icon. The link stops working immediately. Expiry dates can't be changed afterwards either – delete the link and create a new one.
Comments & AI
How do I get the comments back into Claude?
Comment list → “Export for Claude” copies all open comments as a ready-made instruction with the exact location (CSS selector, page, cell). Paste it, Claude applies the changes, upload the new version – the link stays the same and resolved comments are ticked off.
Read moreWhat is the Claude connector (MCP)?
A connection through which Claude itself can publish files to Annopane and fetch comments. Settings → Connector → create token, enter the address shown in Claude under “Connectors”. The token can be revoked at any time.
Account & devices
How do I switch between two accounts (e.g. work and private)?
Settings → Accounts → “Switch”. Files on the device are visible in both accounts, cloud files only in the respective account.
How do I install Annopane as an app?
iPhone: in Safari tap Share → “Add to Home Screen”. Android/Chrome: menu → “Install app”. Annopane then starts full-screen, also offline for files on the device.

Files in device mode stay on the device you uploaded them on. For sync: open file → ⋯ → Settings → storage “Cloud”. This requires an account.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Account → “Delete account”, type the confirmation word. All cloud files, links and comments are deleted immediately and permanently; files on the device are kept. Super admins of a workspace hand over the role first.
