In short
Upload the DOCX to Annopane, share the link. The document is shown as a readable page; recipients tap a paragraph and comment. For review rounds without a Word licence on the recipient's side.
The conversion (mammoth) keeps headings, lists, tables, images and bold text; elaborate page layout is simplified. In return it reads well on any screen.
How it works
- 1
Upload the DOCX
Only .docx (not the old .doc). Images in the document are carried over.
- 2
Share
Send a link with role “Comment”; anyone who should only read gets “View”.
- 3
Comment on paragraphs
The comment carries the beginning of the paragraph's text as a quote – unambiguous even after changes.
What works
- Readable view on the phone instead of zooming in page layout
- Comments on the paragraph, with a quote
- Headings, lists, tables and images are preserved
- Versions under the same link
What doesn't (yet)
- Simplified layout: columns, headers/footers, shapes and page breaks are not rendered
- Word's own comments and tracked changes are not imported
- No editing – Word remains the place for text changes
Typical uses
- · Contract draft or memo for alignment
- · Have colleagues proofread texts written by Claude
- · Minutes for participants without an Office licence

No. Comments are placed anew in Annopane and stored separately from the document.
Can the document be edited?
No, Annopane is a reading and commenting view. Changes are made in Word and uploaded as a new version.
